David Fairs
David is a LGBTQ+ director, writer, dramaturg and actor. Originally from the North East of England, he trained for three years at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, after Cambridge University. As an actor, he has worked variously across theatre, film and radio (including BBC Radio 4, the Hampstead Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe, the New Vic, the Edinburgh Festival), from an early career role in Tiger Country alongside Game of Thrones’ Indira Varma to his recent critically-acclaimed performance in the world premiere of the Kenny Wax (Six The Musical) production Tom Dick & Harry at London’s Alexandra Palace Theatre. Co-founder and co-artistic director (alongside Anna Marsland, National Theatre’s Curious Incident) of queer and female-led developmental theatre company GOLEM!, he is always keen to use an artistic platform to spotlight the stories of the side-lined; to increase the representation of groups marginalised because of gender, sexual orientation, race or gender identity.
